Blackbery concerns..
If you use RIM’s Blackberry, you might be interested to learn that they infringed on a few patents owned by a company named NTP. Seems that this has been an ongoing saga since 2002, but apparently its take on a new twist in that Blackberry doesn’t have anything to pull out of its hat any longer hence giving NTP the upper hand.
So many users I know rely on this service heavily - almost like the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up ” customers. Sad to say but I don’t remember the name of the product - just the catchy marketing in those funny commercials (sorry to people over the age of 70 reading my blog). With the help of the internet, I now remember that the products name was “Lifecall” . Ya gotta love the internet.
Anyhow, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I’d have a backup solution in place in case something comes of this as the consumer is not at all involved in the litigation process but could very well be the biggest one impacted if this ends up taking a negative twist for RIM.
